Tell me why?!

"Tell me why? Ain't nothing but a heartache!"

This song, by Backstreet Boy has my heart. I've been performing this from my childhood (I mean, yeah! I'm still a child.. Ahem! Okayy🏃🏻‍♀️)

From my grade 6 keyboard performance to this year's fresher's day, I've been performing "I want it that way" for multiple times that it has initially become my personality.

Backstreet boys, the girls and boys nowadays who are routing for something called BTS will never know the OG music and the OG boys band. Back in those days, it has always been Backstreet Boys and One Direction. Yet, eventually the so called younger generation has changed it into One Direction vs Backstreet Boys. The irony and the most comical part is that, this "One Direction vs BTS" formed after the parting of the One Direction band members. Believe me, I have been laughing at this debate for years.

Anyways...

"I want it that way", is still one of my favourite songs. No matter how many times I listen to it, no matter if it is played continuously. I would be listening to it for million times..

If you do not know about "Backstreet Boys" then brother... Please do listen to them. You're missing a huge part in the Music Industry.

Peace!!

Music is our strongest memory #03

 "Guess who's back, back again."

When I was in grade 6. I played my first cricket tournament. It was a noteworthy day to me. My first ever game in cricket. It augmented my confidence. It felt like I am winning in life.

It was a T20 series against a district ( Kandy - my team vs Colombo)

I was playing 1 down ( As the 3rd batsman, oh!.. Woman). I was cool headed. I felt stupendous.

** I heard my heartbeat, it was out of fear and excitement. I breathed aloud. I wore my gloves, carried my bat like a sword. I literally felt like a soldier. I entered the ground. Watched the sky for God's blessings.**

Entered the pitch, a young kid, thinking she will score a century.

The first ball, was a miss. I convinced myself. Did a short ted talk and was ready to face the next ball. Andddddd. That's it. In a second, I found myself walking back to the dressing room.

Yes! Yes! Of course, Yes! I Got Out. I thought the ball went further from the wicketkeeper and began to take a run. But the ball was on her hand andddd "Run out". Up went the Umpire's index finger.

For no one's surprise, We lost the match. Moreover, we had our next match two days later.

At the second match, they played a song by Eminem. It was "Without me" which got released in 2002 (Coincidence I guess, because I was born in that year).

When they played this song, I got a strange motivation. It made me feel like I'm capable of scoring a century today. I wanted to shut the mouths of the people who doubted me in the first match.

When I entered the ground, then played the part;

"Now, this looks like a job for me

So everybody just follow me

'Cause we need a little controversy

'Cause it feels so empty without me"

Mate, not gonna lie, the confidence level I had at that exact moment was transcendent.

And guess what? 😎

I scored a 108 runs on 76 balls without bestowing my wicket [ 108* (76)] on 6 down. (Guess you would have figured out my batting position)

My team was timid due to the loss we faced on our very first match. So that they did not play well. And look mate. Because of a song, because of Music, I played well (Oh Karen not you again, yes I practiced day and night to play better the next match. But still confidence is key Karen, come on, don't find fault in everything)

Anyways, ever since that day, I play "Without me" to uplift my confidence. As I have already told you that I don't like staying here (hall), further my friends and I, face several struggles here, we in depth associate ourselves to this song. Especially these lines;

"'Cause we need a little controversy

'Cause it feels so empty without me"

This memory from grade 6, which happened in 2013 is still on my mind.

More so, this morning while going to practice, I played that song. It gives me a weird kind of confidence and happiness.

I know that you would have listened to this song. I know that feeling mate, I know how that song makes you feel. Enjoy it. Don't day dream while listening to it. Pleaseeee 😂🤝🏻

Peace out mate! ✌🏻

Music is our strongest memory #02

"But I love you so (please let me go)

I love you so (please let me go)"

When I thought that no love song could ever thwack me, then released a Tamil song.

One of my friends back in Sri Lanka faced a breakup and he was addicted to a song. I went to him, tapped on his shoulder. When he turned around, I saw into his eyes. It was as red as an evening sky. His eye bags were big enough to carry my Cricket kit 🙃. I asked him about the breakup. The first few words he enunciated were, "It is literally like the song Kanawe Kanawe".

"Kanawe Kanawe". It's a breakup song from the movie David. I have never been in Love when I first listened to this song. I felt the pain of the actor. I felt the pain of a failed love eventhough I have never been through that phase.

That's what fellows is called as "Music". Even if you have never been in that situation, music can make you feel it.

One fine day, uhm! Okay, okay, I caught your mindset. (Man, you know me well). A usual day when I was frustrated to be in hall. That one friend (Hope you remember him/her from my blogs.) sent a spotify link to my Whatsapp. I don't take my phone so often, yet that day. I took my phone the exact second as the link reached me.

** I opened it, tapped on the link. Anddddd... **

As usual that Spotify lady came up with her infuriating voice insisting me to get the premium account.  I apoplectic with the advertisemen, yet I stayed. Wanted to know, what song it was. The song played after the ad, unfortunately I could not hear it. Then I realized that my earphones were plugged in to the phone, but the other end was not in my ears.

** I then reached to the buds, placed it in my ears. Then dragged the song to play it from the first**

** Next second, I was lying on my bed, listening to a soporific voice, singing about a failed Love **

"I LOVE YOU SO" 💕by "THE WALTERS" is about falling in love with someone who isn't ready for a serious relationship. I have never been in this situation either 😂. Yet, this song gives me the ability to feel the pain of a failed love.

On the other hand, I know a couple who has this song as their "Our Song". They are a cool couple. As always they are in a long distanced relationship. Their stories are intriguing to listen.

Songs carry a meaning which was given to them by their owners. But the people who listen to it will present a new meaning to it. It can be any emotion. It's all about that particular individual's mindset.

As I said yesterday, relate your favourite songs to your favourite memories.

Have fun. Listen to both the songs bud. You'll experience a new taste.

Peace out mate!! ✌🏻

Music is our strongest memory #01

"Music, once admitted to the soul, becomes a sort of spirit, and never dies. - Edward Bulwed lytton"

If you listen to Tamil songs, then, I bet that you would have heard the song "Oru naalil" by Yuvan, an unreleased song from the movie Pudhupettai. It was also used in the movie which got released this May, "Star". I could not imagine that some of the kids, never knew this song and they discovered it from the movie Star. That was.. That was Lugubrious. I mean. Bro, That's Yuvan, and you have never heard that?

Fine, Let's not put these so called 2k kids into embarrassment (Comes from the mouth of a 2k kid 🏃🏻‍♀️, not mouth exactly, it's my thumbs typing, I know that Karen, need not to correct me). Too much of hatred? My bad.

Nevertheless, this song, "Oru naalil", if you haven't heard it, please do listen to that song.

I never related to this song until 2024 January. When I was back home for my Christmas Holidays, the day for my return to India arrived closer. Like the flower Snowdrop, which tries it's best to survive in every weather, I tried my best to not demonstrate my emotions to my family. (
Obviously I stole this line from the poem "To the Snowdrop" by Willaim wordsworth, read it, if you got time mate).

** I pulled my earphones, took my phone, pinned it together, went to Spotify, clicked on Yuvan hits and played it on shuffle **

My mind was blank. Blank like a Baby's mind when it wakes up, befuddled. My tears were blocking my sight. I was loosing... I lost my sight. My eyes joined my mind. They were blank together.

** Then played **

"Oru naalil wazhkai inga engum odi pogadhu"

(Which means that our life will not runway in a day.)

My mom entered the room and saw me crying. She called the rest of my family (while mocking me for crying, of course 😂).

Mom, dad, brother and my sister tried to console me. And guess what? I pulled out a "Clown", hid my sorrows behind my heart. Told my mom, "I'm fine with leaving to college".

That night, about 11.34 pm, I woke up to relaize that my mom was not sleeping beside me. But before I call out her name, I heard a voice coming out from the hall. It was my mom, crying to God to help me stay strong. (Believe me, it was the first time I saw her cry)

I listened to "Oru naalil" once again. The lyrics.. It was Veracious.

Watching your favourite people cry, especially your mom is poignant.

I felt bad about myself and then decided that I would never let her cry ever again. (Two days later she cried after looking at a spider in our room, yet that does not count bro 😂, I'm not at fault there.)

Sufferings, is normal for a person. If you are a living being, it is destined for you to suffer in this deplorable world. It's not an opinion but a fact.

At any point, never make your mom cry. Not only mom, making your dad, siblings, best friends or your loved ones cry is the worst feeling ever. Do not disappoint them mate. It's okay to go through hell for them, because they did go through (more than) hell to give us this comfortable rich life. (But bro, do not roger with every wrong doing, we got to stand tall and say No to few things too. We got to balance every action)

Did not want this blogpost to get emotional, one of my friends played that song and my mind was swamped from that memory. A memory which I would like to forget.

Captain America erased the fact in the quote "Not a perfect Soldier but a good man" and became a Perfect Soldier AND a Good man. Be like Cap buddy. Furthermore, relate your good memories to your favourite songs (free advice)

Peace Out ✌🏻

60?

Yeah mate. Time to say... Uhm.. Not a goodbye actually. But a bitter full "Bye". It's my 60th day of posting. It's been a...
