Enawa Yanawa

Uhm, yeah you might get confused by my title. Yet, My Sinhala mates would get it, obviously.

"Enawa" and "Yanawa" are two Sinhala words which means "Comes" and "Goes".

And if you are following my blogposts, you would know that what comes and goes for me 🫠

Yes, it's peace!

Trust me mate, I was the happiest of all (sharon, stop, I've already given you an explanation for this before.. so stop [if you did not get this 'Sharon reference', uhm! You gotta follow my blogposts mate] )..

Yeah, back to my story. I was the happiest of all. I spent my day with my people. And hey we won the match against Bangladesh. I meant the cricket match between India (men) and Bangladesh (men). India won by 86 runs. I was euphoric.

Nevertheless, I switched from India (men) vs Bangladesh (men) to Sri Lanka (women) vs India (women). That's when I got traumatized.

I support India (men) and Sri Lanka (women) in cricket. That's where the trouble began. India (women) won the match against our girls (Sri Lanka (women)). Aaaaahhhh! How can I take this?

On one side, WE WON and on the other WE DID NOT

This is sports

This might sound fatuous or facetious. Still it is an important thing to me.

SPORTS is hard to take up and keep up with. It breaks you mentally and physically.

Even so, sports is our happiness. I was joyous when India (men) won and cried when India (women) won. That's game. You cannot expect everything to go your way.

Aaah! You see? Life lesson.

Man, I love sports.. I love Cricket.!

(This is a verbal representation of a sports person or a sports fan.. It's hard mate, neither you nor I know on what mood we are. That's how hard we go on sports).

General warnings aside....

Here's a gentle reminder from Sir Jimmy Neesham:

Villains, The Heroes!

"Just bury me in the ocean with my ancestors who jumped from ships because they knew that death was better than bondage - Killmonger"

Villains have long captivated audiences across literature, film, and television. They embody our darkest fears and desires, serving as powerful foils to the heroes we root for. But what makes these antagonists so compelling?

First, villains often represent a distorted version of the protagonist's values. Their motivations, whether rooted in revenge, power, or even misguided altruism, provide a complex backdrop that challenges our understanding of morality. Characters like Darth Vader and Loki are not just evil for the sake of it; their depth adds layers to the narrative, prompting us to explore the gray areas of good and evil.

Moreover, villains allow us to confront our own darker impulses in a safe space. We may not condone their actions, but we can relate to their struggles and desires. This connection can evoke a sense of empathy, transforming them into tragic figures rather than mere antagonists.

Finally, villains often drive the story forward. Their schemes and confrontations create tension and excitement, keeping audiences engaged. Without them, heroes would lack the challenges that define their journeys.

In essence, villains are essential to storytelling. They not only highlight the hero's qualities but also invite us to explore the complexities of human nature, making them an enduring part of our cultural landscape.

So mate, what do you say?

Villains or Villains?

CRICKET!

 Aaah! Where should I begin..!

Cricket, My First Love. Cricket is all I do. Cricket is my personality. A game of Cricket, can devilishly change my mood. A match I watched or played has the power to determine my "Character for the day". We won a game, I am the exhilarated of all. We lose a game, I am the most woebegone of all. Further, when we tie a game, oh man, I am the most frazzled of all.

Cricket, is my Life. If there's a match streaming on any platform, irrespective of domestic or international, no matter where I am, I'll try the hardest to watch it from the beginning to the end. I watch the pre show and the post match presentation as if it's a Super Over.

Not to gasconade, but once I was watching a match between India men and Australia men during one of my friends' marriage in the church. That's how important Cricket is to me.

Apart from the T20 and ODI matches, I love watching Test matches. I still cannot understand why few people do not like Test matches. But as a true Cricket fan, watching test matches can improve one's knowledge vastly. The defense is born in the Test Matches. (Kudos to Steve Smith - Australian Cricketer, who is well known for his defense in Tests

Lastly, There is a person whom I would like to introduce to you. He who made me fall for Cricket this hard.

It's...

MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI.

I would be forever and ever grateful for Him for making me fall in love with Cricket.

And.. Mate.. If you do not watch Cricket. I pity you heavily.

And if you do. Come on mate. You are my Brodha. 🤝🏻✨️🫶🏻

So do watch Cricket, alright!

Peace, mate!

World Teachers' Day!

Everyone's got them, that one teacher that left their mark on their students. Whether they opened their mind to all the wondrous things life has to offer within academia or clamped down on them to teach the value of respect, they will forever be nestled in the memory of a student's foramtive years.

Some of Cinema's best teachers applied their craft across multiple film genres. They range from very serious to lighthearted to straight up whimsical. They have different ways to impart wisdom to their students. Yet, they are all likeable, relatable and unforgettable.

First and foremost, we begin with.. I mean mate you should have known by now..

Okay okay.. It's...

MR. JOHN KEATING (DEAD POET'S SOCIETY)

O Captain! My Captain! Robin Williams' performance in Dead Poets Society is one worth standing on a desk for. The free-spirited and inspirational private school teacher encouraged his students to seize the day and "make [their] lives extraordinary." While the whole film is a love letter to teachers and their power to energise and inspire, it’s the film’s rousing final scene that will have you shedding a tear and mounting your desk in appreciation for this fearless educator. If that's not good teaching we're not sure what is.

MISTER MIYAGI (KARATE KID)

While not the kind of teacher you would meet in a school, Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid franchise is as much of a teacher as anyone else here. Because of his patience, diligence, and skill, he taught Daniel LaRusso the art of karate and truly made him into the man we know all these years later in Cobra Kai. His teachings live on, even if the actor who played him, Pat Morita, passed on in 2005.

SEVERES SNAPE (HARRY POTTER)

As someone who loves the Harry Potter franchise, I couldn't make this list without including Severus Snape, played by Alan Rickman is one of his best roles. While Snape was a bit of a jerk to everyone, there's no denying that underneath that, he was an older man with a lot of trauma and someone who did everything in his power to protect the students and those he cared about. Even in the end, he could give Harry his tears to show him that he always loved Lily, Harry's mother.

DEWEY FINN (SCHOOL OF ROCK)

While he initially faked his way into the role, having no teaching experience, Dewey Finn left his impact on his students in School of Rock, so much so that a new program was created for students for music. It's undoubtedly one of Jack Black's best films.

TERENCE FLETCHER (WHIPLASH)

Terence Fletcher, an instructor known for his terrifying teaching methods, discovers Andrew and transfers the aspiring drummer into the top jazz ensemble, forever changing the young man's life.

These are few teachers who has inspired me throughout my life. Furthermore, wanted to pay respect to them as today is "The world Teachers' Day".

Tea!

"Too much tea? There's no such thing."

Tea, is what I live for. Tea is everything for me. It's a prominent feature of my life.

A cup of Tea is a cup of peace. Enjoy life sip by sip, not gulp by gulp.

My life requires Determination and Tea. For me, Tea time is a chance to slow down, pull back and appreciate the surroundings. Tea decelerates depression. A cup of Tea makes everything better.

I live on Tea. For Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, I need nothing but Tea. Even now, I am living on Tea.

When it rains, a cup of Tea comes in handy. When it's flaming hot, Tea comes in handy here too. Some might think, how? But yes, Tea works in summer too. Whatever the season it is mate, Tea is everything.

You meet new people at the Tea shops, you gain friendships through a sip of Tea. I have gained several friends at the Tea shops. And you know those friendships still last.

Tea is something that people think less of. But for some like us, Tea is indispensable.

And you are more interested in Tea, like me. Go read this : ( https://justmaniacthings.blogspot.com/2024/09/chill-brotha.html?m=1 )

And Thanks to that special friend ( As I have mentioned in my previous blogposts ) for propounding this topic. 🫶🏻

Yeah mate. Time to say... Uhm.. Not a goodbye actually. But a bitter full "Bye". It's my 60th day of posting. It's been a...
