Harmony (2010)

"The loudest harmony from the most humble place"

Mate, that was my prime time. When I was that "Prime me" during 2016, one of my seniors suggested me a movie named "Harmony" which got released in 2010.

My mom used to mention that the last time she saw me cry was when I was 5. I was infact crying for food, not gonna lie. People used the term, "She never cries, such a stone hearted girl" seldom to me.

But that movie, That single movie made my heart melt like a glacier in the holocene period. (Don't get confused with the terms, just wanted to vaunt my archaeology knowledge, my parents are paying for it, innit mate).

Anyways, Aaaahhhhhh.... Harmony...

A feel good 2010 South Korean feature. Focusing a group of women residing in the same room in prison who decide to lift morale & form a choir. At first reluctant to let go of their institutional hold on the prisoners,

the authorities, w/a kindly prison guard, Lee Da-hee, soon let the women (Yunjin Kim, from Lost, Na Moon-hee being the principal players) audition singers for the group & we get glimpses into how they got to prison in the first place (Moon-hee ran her cheating husband & mistress over w/her car & awaits a death sentence w/Kim, who gave birth to a son in jail & raised him there now has to give him up for adoption), w/the final concert, which is nearly derailed when an attendee’s necklace goes missing (& the blame falls on the warbling inmates), finally goes off to great fanfare. Nothing groundbreaking to be sure but the sentiment & well-acted performances are enough to keep a smile on one’s face as we hum along.

My senior suggested me this movie, saying it's a feel good movie. I mean, it is. But he never warned me about the Climax. I was laughing and smiling during the entire movie. But the climax shattered me. I cried.. I cried like a baby. Thank God no one saw it. Nevertheless... This movie still hits me mate.

And once again, please do watch this movie.

Peace!!
